Dangerous Product By nada this product is dangerous,I used mine for probably 8 months before it actually touched the blade, but the first time it nicked my blade it literally exploded in my hand, when it happened its one of those times that it happens soo fast your in shock for a second before you start counting your digits to make sure their all there,I was able to search around my shop and find most of the pieces(a few were imbedded in my hand)and notice that the blade just barely grazed the outside of the stick,I count myself as being very luck that I still had my blade cover on because the forward motion of the push stick being there one moment and gone the next my hand would have definately ended up in the blade,Now I cant say why this happened perhaps because I live in the desert and it isnt uncommon for my shop to reach 140 degrees with A/C off in the summer, perhaps the heat dried out the plastic but from now on I will stick with shopmade push sticks 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. You have to be kidding By Walt in Pittsburgh I am convinced on this item that the reviewers all must work for the manufacturer. Talk about a $5 piece of junk. Now, if this were selling for $2, I might rate it higher. This looks and feels like a child's toy. Make one out of a piece of scrap wood and save your money. 11 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Safety First By Wayne Cease A push stick will help keep your fingers away from table saw blade. The handle on this one has a nice shape and the notch makes gripping thick wood easy. If you do a lot of thin or long material you may want to look at a Stots push stick (Amazon sells those too). See all 18 customer reviews...

Great in the router table By Harry Beck I bought this router, based on a FineWoodworking review, to use in my router table. The appeal was: #1)being able to change bits from above the table (and NOT having to remove the router), #2)being able to adjust the bit height from above the table and #3)being able to do these without investing in an expensive router lift. It works as advertised - easy to adjust bit height, (mostly) easy to change bits from above the table. I am impressed that the collet rises well above table. Kudos as well to a well-designed, heavy-duty, plated, cast wrench. Nice collet lock (automatically engages when the collet is raised to full height). Smooth and powerful. It is mounted to my table, I located where to drill the hole for the adjusting lever (some sort of template would have helped...), and it seems to work well. As regards router table use, the only goofy thing to me is the on/off switch. You have to push back a safety cover before depressing the switch - in free hand use I think this would be an annoying extra step. In the table the annoyance is that I normally leave the router switch on, plug it into an outlet in my table, and operate it from an external switch - not a problem until it is time to change bits. Raising the collet above the table is supposed to engage a lockout (that little cover) so that you won't accidentally turn on the router while changing a bit. However if the switch is already turned on the collet won't raise all the way until you reach under the table and turn it off - and that's a little clumsy because it is on the backside. Then, of course, you have to turn it back on (clumsy) before starting out again. If you followed that - not a big deal, and I suppose it is a reasonable safety trade-off. I'll get used to it. One more thing that is a little odd is the plunge mechanism - I'm not sure why one would need more than a spring and a locking lever on a smooth set of plunge rods, but Triton seems to think so - there is an odd knob with a push button in the middle (and a locking lever). In the little bit I handled it free hand I didn't quite figure it out (I had to read the instructions for cryin' out loud!). This would only be an issue for me if I was using it free hand, and I'm not - my reliable Bosch routers do that for me comfortably. So, for router table: pretty great, especially for the price (less than most router lifts alone). For free hand use I don't think I'd pick it over the more conventional fare - Bosch, Porter-Cable, Dewalt, Makita, etc. It does come with quite a collection of extras for free hand use though, so you might want to handle it and compare prices. 26 of 26 people found the following review helpful. Excellent table router, bad switch cover By Jon McCoy I'm very impressed with this router, having replaced a PC690 in my Bench Dog table. I almost bought a 3+ hp router and lift ($500+), and now I'm glad I read that FWW review over Christmas break. It's very easy to adjust and swap bits -- especially compared to the PC690, which was quite tricky to adjust depth accurately. And it has plenty of power for the work I do, mostly narrow dados and rabbets in hardwood. My only complaint is with the power switch safety cover. My router table has an external power switch, but to change the bit you need to turn off the router's power switch as well. No biggie, just a nuisance. Except when I tried to use the router, the cover vibrated closed and powered down the router. A few screws later, the plastic switch cover & spring are no longer causing grief. 32 of 34 people found the following review helpful. Triton for Router Table By Steven L. Johnson I bought this router to mount in a table I was building. I now have many hours of use in this capacity and am exceptionally pleased. The only thing I haven't made good use of is the chip extraction attachment. This router is exceptionally well

Most helpful customer reviews 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Where are the instructions? By Builder from the Future Got this table a few days ago. It is built very well, and seems very sturdy. There are no, repeat, zero instructions sent with this table. Lots of screws, and knobs that I found places for most of, by looking at photos of the table on the internet, but still have a handful left over that I am sure would be useful if I knew what to do with them. The Rousseau website is rather minimalist as well and it was of no help. I actually got some instructions for how to mount my router (Skil 1825) to the baseplate from other reviews of the Rousseau baseplate that you can buy seperately on Amazon. You have to drill your own mounting holes. Not too hard, but again, without instructions it is. So that said, I have run a few pieces through and it works very well. You need some basic tools, t-square straight edge, to get everything aligned properly, but that too was easy. Easily adjustable fence, hole to attach your shopvac, miter gauge slot, but does not come with T-style miter gauge. The one off my table saw fits in the slot though and I use it. Not the cheapest table for sale here, but a nice compromise between price and quality. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Missing a lot By S. Haynie This came knocked down in a box, missing two knobs and any coherent instructions. Lots of shims and washers that may go somewhere, but its not at all clear except from a basic knowledge of infeed/outfeed. The Rousseau plate has been reviewed elsewhere, its as hard to work with as noted with the snap in rings and the difficulty in mounting your router. Update: Credit where its due to Rousseau, Andy took my call, discussed the use of the shims and is sending out the missing knobs via USPS. Good customer service can make up for poor execution in shipping. 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Nice solid top, but that's about it... By James Bowen First the good: This table has a nice solid top with a full sized miter slot. The bad: Having said that, the fit and finish are very poor. The leg mechanism is held to the table with lag bolts, which is no problem. However, these were placed incorrectly and the bolts went in at an angle of approximately 25 degrees which IS a problem. rather than correct the problem, whoever assembled the leg set just bent parts to make them fit. this is almost criminal because the leg set is very solid and stable. And of course, The ugly: The fence is very heavy, which is a good thing. unfortunately, whoever assembled the thing must have been related to whoever applied the finish to the fence. It's the ugliest paint job I have ever seen, well since that time saw a car that had been painted with housepaint and a brush! The end result is that I built a cabinet and a fence for the top. So I ended up with a decent setup after all, but should I have had to? See all 3 customer reviews...

This thing is impossible to find locally By Jason Chance I bought probably 5 different adapters from the local big box stores trying to adapt shop vac hose to 2 1/2" DC fittings and none of them worked. I ordered one of these as a last resort and I'm glad I did- the tapered design fits snug down in a 2 1/2" DC port and doesn't come out without really pulling on it. Worth every penny for hooking up to my random orbital sander and saving my lungs. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Fits Bosch Equipment By N. Peterson Unlike other products that were cited as bosch-fitting, this product fits my bosch 4100 table saw port and my bosch 1181 router table fence dust exhaust port. The adapter is tapered for a snug friction fit. The other end snuggly attaches to my shop vac. Exactly what I hoped to receive - no more duct tape! 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. just the part i needed By Michael Mcdade the adapter is well made, not just a cheep plastic knock-off and very durable. there were no air leaks and the vacuum held very nicely. all in all, great performance at a great price. Add the Mast-R-Lift to your router table and take your fixed base router to another level, literally! Bit changes are convenient because the collet is accessible above the table. The Mast-R-Lift was designed for the most popular router motor on the market the Porter-Cable 7518 (3.5" diameter motors will fit with an appropriate adapter, sold separately). The Mast-R-Lift is constructed of the highest quality components including a plate machined from 1" aluminum with a 3-1/2" opening that accepts the included phenolic insert to close the hole to 2" for smaller bits. Dubovsky I've used this router lift for a mix of wood-working jobs and haven't found much wrong with it. It's very well-made, the adjustments are solid but not too tight, and the height adjustment is quite repeatable. I like the fact that the included manual describes what you may need to do as the years go by; for example, they describe replacing the felt chip brushes on the shafts, knowing that you'll be using this thing for 10+ years. 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Very pleased By Rickey Lodico It took me all of 15 minutes to read the directions, remove the motor from my PC7518, install it in the Mast-R-Lift and have it ready for use in the router table. I couldn't ask for anything easier and it operates soooo smoothly too. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Awesome Lift! By Tile Carpet Etc I had a little difficult time inserting my Milwakee router with the sleeve but eventually got it. I have used it extensively and having the ability to change the bit above the table is a luxury! I LOVE it! It's smooth and cranks nice and even both up and down. It is a little pricey but I know I won't have to buy another one, but I wouldn't mind having 1 or 2 more. I strongly advise anyone to invest in this quality tool rather than a cheaper one that you'll need to replace at least once. 5 Stars ***** See all 9 customer reviews...

The Flip Shop Stop is equipped with three sliding stop rods that operate independently or in tandem for one, two, or three simultaneous stop positioner setups.

Amazon Sales Rank: #7014 in Home Improvement Brand: Incra Model: MITER1000SE Dimensions: 4.50" h x 18.25" w x 18.25" l, 8.12 pounds Engraved stainless steel primary scale for precision accuracy 41 laser cut V-stops for extreme accuracy at all popular angles Patented GlideLOCK miter bar with 6 expansion points for quick repeats 18- to 31-inch telescoping incremental miter fence for handling a variety of stock widths INCRA Flip Shop Stop-Fence Positioner for optimal mitering accuracy

Amazon.com Review A good table saw comes with a perfectly good miter gauge. But this Incra is perfectly great. It’s precise, versatile, infinitely adjustable and custom-fits to your miter gauge slot. You’re probably familiar with the Incra name because of their fantastic dovetail and box-joint-making jigs, but they’ve got a wide product line all with precision at the top of the list. An ingenious flip-stop locks down at any point along the fence for repeatable cuts, and it flips out of the way without disturbing your placement if you have other cuts to make as well. The fence actually telescopes out, from a closed length of 18 inches to a fully extended 30 inches for superior stock stability. The miter gauge itself has 41 detents in 5-degree increments across the entire 180 degrees, with special stops at 22-1/2 and 67-1/2 degrees, all gauged by angle indexing teeth for unparalleled accuracy. In addition, you can make 1/10th-degree adjustments with the stainless steel vernier cursor. The thing we like best about this jig is its ability to custom fit to your miter gauge groove, courtesy of six disks along the length of the slot bar. With a turn of an allen wrench, each one expands or contracts individually to get you the absolute best fit on your table, leaving you with zero play between bar and channel and zero chance for error. Incra’s also designed a neat top-mounted tab that fits a T-slot and removes in a few second for plain channels, letting you move the jig from your T-slotted table saw to other tools with a standard groove, such as a router table. We’re pretty taken with this setup, and we think anyone who craves precision will love it, too.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste The Miter 1000 Special Edition builds on the excellent foundation provided by the Miter 1000. The Incra exclusive AngleLOCK Indexing System delivers 41 lock solid angle stops in 5° increments over a full 180° range. Combine this with the included GlideLOCK Miter Bar, Telescoping IncraLOCK Cuto-off Fence and the Incra Flip Shop Stop, and you'll easily achieve mitering accuracy that you never thought possible. Whether it's your basic 90° cut-off, simple picture frames, or a 20-sided object, the Miter1000SE by Incra deiivers perfect, repeatable accuracy.... First time, Every time, Any angle. Six expansion disks adjust both sides of the bar for ZERO side play, anti-friction travel on all table saws with standard 3/4" x 3/8" or near-standard miter gauge channels, including Delta, Craftsman, imports, etc. This means that all of INCRA's incredible precision will actually show up in your work because the bar CAN'T wiggle around in the miter slot. By Vaughn McMillan Got the Incra Miter 1000SE a couple weeks ago (thanks to an Amazon sale price) and have nothing but praise for it so far. It was dead on right out of the box, although adjustments should be easy if ever necessary. There was very little assembly required, and Incra makes sure you have all the parts necessary (and then some...they threw in extra screws and other bits and pieces). One thing the Incra fence has that I've not seen on any of the others is the Incra "teeth" that engage the sliding stop. Very, very repeatable, and with the micro adjust screw, very adjustable, so you can get anywhere between the 1/32" teeth. Even though the stock gauge that came with my table saw has "stops" at 90 and 45 degrees, it was never trustworthy, so I had to check it each time I used it. I really like being able to set the Incra miter gauge at 45 degrees (or any other setting) and using it confidently without first checking to be sure the angle is right. The gauge seems rock solid. I've seen no flex issues. The bent sheet metal aspect of the gauge head is very substantial (IMHO) and I've not seen any evidence of flex with the fence extenced out. Granted, if I grab the extended fence and try to slide the saw sideways across the shop, it'll flex some, but I've not seen any flex in normal, reasonable use. I found it useful to add a piece of scrap 3/4" material for a sacrificial fence extension, but Incra includes the necessary screws, and the sliding stop can be quickly adjusted to accomodate the additional fence thickness. All in all, it's a well thought out and nicely executed product. 26 of 26 people found the following review helpful. Finally, accurate miters from my table saw! By Michael A. Campbell I had used the factory miter gauge that came with my Ridgid TS2400 table saw on a few projects and even after saw and miter gauge calibration I was still coming up with inaccurate miters. I decided it was time to buy a new miter gauge. I was researching miter gauges and had narrowed it down to the Osborne EB-3 and the Incra Miter 1000-SE. The Osborne had a number of disappointing reviews so I decided on the Incra. I could not be happier with my purchase. Setup took around a half an hour and was very easy. Within an hour I had already put the miter gauge to the ultimate test and had cut and assembled an octagon out of some scrap wood. The octagon came out perfect proving the miter gauge was set up correctly and that it is dead accurate. The only complaint I have is in order to make adjustments to the fence you have to use the tool Incra provides (I guess I could replace their screws). Other than that, I absolutely love the Incra Miter 1000-SE and can see myself now using my table saw more for miters rather than my chop saw. 20 of 21 people found the following review helpful. lots of adjustments you must play with By Dominic The Incra does have a lot going for it. In its price range, it is much better than the Kreg. It is not as nice as the Jessem but then your not paying the big Jessem price. I am not that crazy about the split nylon washers they use to take the slop out of the table slot. I had to play with that a good while but when you get it right it feels pretty good. we'll see how long it holds up without readjusting. The other thing the bugs me is the "erector set" way you have to shim, adjust, readjust, all kinds of things. I dont want to spend time doing these things, just make my cuts and get on with my project. The instructions do get a bit confusing too. When you get it all set up it does do a nice job and the quality is very good. I looked long and hard at many models and this one is the best all around without spending more than what your tablesaw might have cost. See all 72 customer reviews...

Porter-Cable 893PK 2-1/4-Horsepower Fixed- and Plunge-Base Kit

Fast, smooth, and efficient, the Porter-Cable 893PK gets its formidable strength from a 2-1/4 HP, super-quiet motor with superior electronic feedback and variable speed (10 - 23,000 RPM) to maintain consistent power and control. A built-in dust collection system helps improve visibility, while an easy-to-use knob makes it a snap to fine tune the height; there's also a bypass control to handle both large and coarse adjustments. The 893PK works with most 890 and 690 router series bases and also boasts machined brass post busing for durability. For added convenience, both the fixed and plunge bases lock or release instantly with a simple finger movement. Best of all, you don't have to crawl under the table and fiddle with screws to make adjustments--you can re-position right from the tabletop. The 893PK comes with a carrying case, transparent sub-base, 1/4-and 1/2-inch self-releasing collets, a wrench.

Mangers I've been using PC products for 16 years and have loved every one of them until now. My last router was getting a little tired so I thought I would upgrade from a 690 to the new 893 and am appalled that PC put this unit on the market, it is a total waste of money. Here's what it comes down to: the motor itself is great, lots of power, smooth starting, and much quieter than the 690's, this is where the good review ends. The main problem I've found is that the bases are very poorly designed and constructed. It seems like PC was trying to add a bunch of new feautres to them and ended up sacrificing quality for nifty gadgetry. The new clear plastic base does not glide well over most of the woods that I use, instead it chatters causing rough choppy cuts. I tried waxing it, cleaning it with alcohol and even sanded it with 1200 grit paper and nothing seems to help with this problem. The bases are made from a very thin metal and do not seem like they will hold up well to the rigors of long term use. The plunge base has many problems including: depth adjustment/stop moves/comes out of adjustment when doing several of the same depth cuts in a row, the release lever seems to be desinged in a couter intuitive way and does not release in a consistent manner. The main guides that control up/down movement do not opperate smoothly and it's hard to tell if you've reached the stop or are just hung up in a sticky spot. I took this apart, cleaned it out and waxed everything and this did not solve the issue. The view on the measuring gauge is obscured by the tensioning knob for the gauge. All and all I thought these new features would work well and was looking forward to the next generation of PC routers and what I found is that if this is it, Porter Cable has sunk to or below the level of Ryobi. I see there are several good reviews here and not much critisism, do yourself a favor and look at the reviews for the PC 895PK before buying this router, it is the same unit with an added feature or two. Alas do not be too discouraged by this, the 690 series are still great products, what I would consider to be the industy standard, buy one of these instead and you'll get many years of trouble free use from it. Oh I almost forgot, I contacted PC customer support to see if there was any way to exchange this for a 690, they were unwilling to do anything and were not even the least bit apologetic about the issues I am having. Cheers! J. 15 of 15 people found the following review helpful. Actually Designed With the User in Mind By Ronald W. Owens I needed a router with a bit more Horsepower - my old 1-1/2HP machine was just getting worked too hard. I should mention that I already owned 3 routers - 2 at 1-1/2 HP, and a small "trimmer" type that I use a lot - more as a router than as a trimmer. I used one of the old routers in my router table, with an accessory variable speed control. I had already decided that a plunge base was in my future, because there were just times when nothing else was a better option. I decided to order the new Porter Cable 893PK, which, at 2-1/4 HP was a significant boost in horsepower. It included the plunge base at a better price than buying things separately. It has electronic variable speed, and a "soft start" feature that is wonderful - very little torque at start up. I was amazed at how much more quiet this machine is, than my old ones. Motors and mechanical things rotating at more than 20,000 rpm's tend to generate high frequency noise. Porter Cable has done a great job of minimizing the noise - the usual high pitched whine is gone. I mounted the fixed base to my router table and keep the plunge base for other jobs. Of course, I still own all the other routers, so there are options aplenty. I cannot say enough good things about the design of this tool. The depth adjustment in the fixed base

It has that high-quality-durable-well made feel that we all look for and appreciate in a tool. There is nothing "cheap" about the DW618. I've had an old Craftsman router literally since I was a kid and it got the job done but I needed a more powerful machine with a 1/2" chuck for various tasks I'm faced with while building our new house. This included having to flush-trim 32 feet of 1-1/8" T&G plywood. It was hard work (of course) even for the 12-amp motor of the DW618 and I blew the power line's 20-amp circuit breaker at least once. Nevertheless, it got the job done, something that would have been impossible for my other router. The soft start feature is fantastic. The ergonomics are great. The overall quality is first rate. And the price is reasonable. However, it IS NOT perfect. Number one irritation was the center hole in the plastic base was too small to use a 1/2" round over bit!!! I'm still blown away by this idiotic nonsense. DeWalt sells a base with a bigger hole, but why should I have to spend money for something that obviously should have been included? I ended up having to make my own base out of Bakelite because I could not afford to wait for a new base to come in the mail. Naturally, it wasn't hard to make, but it was very irritating. Another thing I don't like about this router is there is a significant amount of free-play in the height adjustment system. This is really a shame on such an otherwise high quality tool. Therefore, rather than for very precise work like cabinet making, I think this router is best used in the construction trades. Lastly, I don't like the push-button collet lock. I would prefer that it used the two-wrench system. This is a powerful router that uses big, nasty cutting tools. I DO NOT want one coming loose. If I had it to do over again, I'd consider the Bosch 1617EVS-46 as it seems to address all of my complaints. Nevertheless, I'm very happy with my DeWalt. I can't imagine a more rugged router. 18 of 18 people found the following review helpful. This is a very good router. By Scott Pointon I debated between this router and the comparable Bosch model for a while before finally choosing the DeWalt. Three things sold me on this router: the depth adjustment ring, the easy motor removal, and the power. After using it in my router table I can say that all three of those features are absolutely top notch. I really like the depth adjustment ring - this makes changing bit height in my router table VERY easy and precise (no more spinning the motor housing). The easy motor removal is a plus too - all you do is release the motor lock (one handed I might add) and then squeeze the quick release tabs on each side of the motor housing to cause the motor to slide right out of the base. Thats it - it could not be simpler. As for power, I have not tried to spin any huge bits in this thing, but I have used some serious ogee bits in white oak, poplar, and pine. In every case, the motor handled the cuts in one pass without bogging down at all and the cuts were super smooth and burn free (I use Freud bits). In my experience, the electronic variable speed works very well. The only drawback of this tool (and the reason I am not rating it 5 stars) is that I find the bit changing to be cumbersome. I have an older Ryobi router with a fantastic spindle lock that allows you to "lock" the spindle and then use both hands for the bit change. On this DeWalt, there is a spindle lock, but it consists of a spring loaded button that must be held in WHILE you are turning the wrench with the other hand. I feel this could have been designed better. Overall, this is a great tool at a fair price. If I could do it all over again I would buy this same router. 13 of 15 people found the following review helpful. Great router....till it broke By D. Herbst Had this router for

Bosch 1619EVS 15 Amp 3-1/4-Horsepower Variable Speed Plunge Base Router with 1/4-Inch and 1/2-Inch Collets

Amazon.com Review Bosch has combined power and performance to create a plunge router that's ideally suited for virtually any application. The powerful 3-1/2-horsepower Bosch 1619EVS offers variable speeds of 8,000 to 21,000 rpm and a soft-start feature that minimizes startup torque. With a router this big and powerful, it's especially nice to have the motor start up gradually, as opposed to jumping to life the way other models do. Complementing the powerful motor, the 3-3/4-inch base opening allows this router to accept large bits, including raised-panel bits. The 1619EVS maintains a constant rpm, too, no matter what knots or gnarls a bit encounters, thanks to Bosch's Constant-Response Circuitry. And the convenient front spindle lock makes changing bits a snap between applications. But perhaps the most unique feature of the 1619EVS is its exclusive under-table setup system, which lets a user make depth adjustments as easy as 1-2-3. --Carl Thress Bosch 1619EVS 15 Amp 3-1/4-Horsepower Variable Speed Plunge Base Router with 1/4-Inch and 1/2-Inch Collets The Bosch 1619EVS electronic plunge router is the most versatile and precise router above and below the table. The Bosch Behemoth, Great Unit, Best for Under a Table By Bob Feeser I must say that combining the 3 1/4HP, with an opening that is 3 3/4 inches wide, and the unique spring disabling mechanism, make this beauty the number one under the table piece of equipment. The 3 and 1/4HP gives you more than enough power to handle even the large 3 1/2" popular kitchen cabinet panel raising bits. The larger opening, gives you plunge capabilities with the larger bits. Larger bits require multiple passes. Their are two ways to make multiple passes, one is move the fence, the other is use the adjustable turret, and sequentially plunge the bit. The Bosch 1619EVS enables you to do that. That is not an option is usually available on other routers due to their reduced openings. The other thing to rave about is the spring defeat mechanism. Push a lever and the spring disappears from action. It free plunges, while still remaining in the base. (The new Australian model does that, but you have to remove the spring. No fun in a dusty environment.) This is important, because, when you have a router mounted upside down in a table, and you want to plunge the base, what often happens is that you lift the entire table. Now you are trying to compress a spring upside down, while holding the table down, and locking a mechanism all at the same time. It is enough to make you go to a fixed base router. :-) The problem with that is, except with the Porter Cable 3 1/4HP fixed base, their isn't any other routers out there that give you 3 1/4HP without going to a plunge base. In a table you preferably want the additional horsepower, even though you usually don't need more than 1 1/2 or 2 horses. The soft start feature, and having the smart electronics, combined with more power than you need, enables you to have a constant bit speed. When the going gets rough, the smart electronics pours on just the right amount of power, to keep it running constant. That is as long as their is enough power to spare. So the additional horsepower is better for that. The big advantage of the Bosch router line, is their fine adjustment knob. Nothing is more frustrating than to try and achieve a perfect setting, getting it close, then loosening the collar, and it jumps completely away from where you had it. The Bosch enables you to get a close gross setting with the collar-clamp, then dial in the perfect setting with the fine adjusting knob. No need to loosen the clamp. Just tweak the fine adjuster. That is sweet. What are the cons? No router has it all. That is why multiple routers are a good option. On the downside, is the weight. It is huge. At 19 pounds, it's a behemoth, but under the table, who cares. It also is louder than the competition. Makitas are the quietest. Also the Fein RT-1800 is much quieter, much lighter at 12 pounds, gives you 3 1/4HP in a plunge, is super engineered, but you can not plunge a 3 1/2" bit into the base, and the spring does not defeat. The funny thing about noise levels, is that they all make a lot of noise when they start biting into the wood. So their you have it. Combining the fine adjustment, with the large horsepower, the extra large opening in the base, the spring defeat feature, and the Bosch precision quality, you have a monster that can not be beat for an under the table installed router. I'm not into yeah this, and boo that. I think their are a lot of great routers out there, and each has it's own advantages. I just think this Bosch fits a much needed nitch. Hope this helps. 44 of 44 people found the following review helpful. It works OK. If you already have the Skill bench, it would be a handy accessory for light duty sawing. The real advantage of mounting a jig-saw upside down in a table is that it pulls the work toward the table, and so, provides stability. Because jig-saws (typically) cut on the up-stroke, an inverted jig-saw cuts downward. Normally, you must put the good face of your work down, so that the upright jig-saw does not splinter the cut. That means you are working blind and have to make an allowance for "blade-wander" especially when cutting curves. You must cut a little wide of your mark or you risk drifting into the mark or beyond. By cutting upside down with a table-mounted jigsaw, you can see exactly what you are doing to the good face. It's just like a mini band-saw. Because the blade now cuts DOWNWARD, most of the sawdust goes through the kerf, so visibility is decent. You can improve that by adding a little fan or compressed air nozzle to blow dust away from you, ideally into a dust-collection port or exhaust fan. Reasons I give this accessory only two stars: 1- It is only convenient if you already have (or plan to purchase) the associated skill bench. 2- It is thin and flimsy, so it flexes somewhat, removing any chance at precision. 3- It is ( like most plastic gimmicks) overpriced. So, cutting upside-down with a table-mounted jig-saw is a good idea, but this particular item is not the best way to do that. Solution: Assuming you do not already have the bench that this fits, or that you are too cheap to spend $25 bucks for a piece of flimsy plastic, or your need greater precision, try this... Get your local glass store to cut a chunk of 1/4" or 3/8" LEXAN polycarbonate. You can use any dimensions you like. Mine is 4" x 8". Cost: $4 bucks plus tax. (You might pay double that in a big city.) With a decent straightedge, it is a simple matter to attach your jig saw to the plate and hold it in place with C-clamps so that it is perfectly parallel to the lexan-plate edges. While the saw is clamped securely, drill mounting holes, countersink them and attach the plate with machine screws and bolts. Un-clamp and voila! ... you have a convenient base-plate that is much better than this one for less money. I like this system because it allows me to make a custom plate for my table. My lexan plate is FAR more rigid and precise and it just drops in to a routed rabbet in my table in seconds. I can instantly remove the saw for normal use. Gravity, plus pressure from the work-piece hold the saw in place. Each down-ward cutting-stroke pulls the saw (with the plate) into the work, so the saw is trapped and held securely; no jumping around, no dangerous drama. Caveat: because I am a compulsive safety-nerd and precision addict, I sometimes use a clamp to hold this base-plate and saw in place. I would recommend that for ANYONE who is not familiar with jig-saws. I find this is only necessary when cutting thicker material like 3/4 " plywood or HARD woods. ANYTIME you table-mount ANY hand-held power-tool, ALWAYS connect it through a emergency cut-off power-supply. You can easily wire these up yourself for custom workbenches, or you can simply plug the tool into a power-strip that has an ON-OFF switch. Or just have the plug where you can reach it quickly in an emergency without letting go of your work. So long as you have one free hand (or foot) to unplug the saw, you can ameliorate or prevent nasty accidents. Jig-saws can do surprisingly unpleasant dances if you are not well-prepared, conscious and careful. You do not want to be forced to hold your work AND reach under a table to find the switch on a jumping jig-saw! JessEm Mast-R-Lift II 02120 Router Lift, 9-1/4-Inch by 11-3/4-Inch

The new Mast-R-Lift II from JessEm Tool sets a higher standard by which router lifts will now be judged. Ball-bearing construction and a new cam lock feature are part of a new design that you now can use with more than one router. The new Mast-R-Lift II fits most fixed base router motors on the market right out of the box.

Amazon Sales Rank: #34692 in Home Improvement Size: 9-1/4-Inch by 11-3/4-Inch Color: Black/Red Brand: JessEm Tool Company Model: 02120 Number of items: 1 Dimensions: 12.00" h x 11.00" w x 14.00" l, Exclusive Cam Locking System Double sealed bearing construction Bit Changes above the table for all routers Machined from 3/8-Inch solid aluminum and Hard Anodized for durability Fits most fixed base routers on the market today

JessEm sets pretty high standards when we develop a new tool. The New Mast-R-Lift II adheres to those strong principles. The Mast-R-Lift II has 5 double sealed bearings, providing a lifetime of use even with the heaviest of routers. All of JessEm's lifts have the patented feature of adding tension to the threaded spindle to remove backlash, vibration, and preventing setting changes while routing. JessEm went one step further with the Mast-R-Lift II. A new dedicated locking mechanism for heavy duty, long term routing operations was added, accessible from the top of the top surface and is engaged with the same crank handle used to raise and lower the Lift. The Mast-R-Lift II also fits most fixed base routers on the market today without the use of an adaptor collar. The unique clamping blocks on the Mast-R-Lift II enable users to use different fixed base routers with the Lift as opposed to dedicating a router. All of our top plates on our Lifts are hard anodized. This process is several times more expensive but we want the Mast-R-Lift II to provide many years of service. Hard anodizing is an engineered surface treatment and not just a cosmetic sulphuric treatment that will wear off. The shafts on the Mast-R-Lift II, like all of JessEm's Lifts are pressed into a shaft mount with hydraulic pressure. We don't just thread our shafts to the top plate. By pressing the shafts into a larger diameter mount we are able to attach the shafts to the top plate and fasten in place with more than just one screw spreading the lateral load and providing a very rigid and durable mount that will withstand the toughest routing operations. The Mast-R-Lift II provides for above the table bit changes for all routers without the need for bent wrenches. All the machined components are machined on one of our CNC machining centers in Barrie, Ontario Canada, and all the aluminum non wear components are anodized for appearance, corrosion resistance and some wear resistance.

Seems to work with any Skill router with the 3 hole base plate. Very easy to setup the router in the plate. Comes with a OK fence and not real useful miter gauge. All the guards, finger board and safety shield attach to the fence. The fence has an adjustable OK dust collection port. The BAD: Its a kludge (a collection of ill considered parts forming a distressing whole). The plate its self is fine, but it can't be removed without removing the fence. The fence is fastened with a machine screw (plastic knob on the end) through 1.5" long holes in the fence and into one of 4 holes in the table using a wing nut and washer on the other end. This causes the following problems: a. Difficult to get the fence fastened. b. Difficult to adjust the fence. c. With a large bit as used for molding the work piece has to be less than 3" wide. for dadoes or coping rather

The jig being attached to the router then rotates around the pin giving you a perfect circle. The only problem I ran into is if you have stock less than 1.5" thick and you wish route part way into the wood and the jig pivoting point you need to use is under the router base, a hole must be drilled completely through the stock. Would be nice if they supplied an additional 1" or .5" pin. (I made one out of the shank of a 'new' eighth in. drill bit - holes in the jig are very tight tolerances, no slop.) 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Works Well By M. Gaipa Installed easily and worked well. I used an 8D finish nail with the head cut off for the pivot instead of drilling and using the provided dowel. I wanted the cut-out for a project but didn't compensate for cutter diameter and was undersize at first attempt. Ooops. An aluminum version would be better. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Works well but too fragile. By Matt de Vries This thing works great, is precise, and repeatable (which is it's primary value over some other jigs including homemade ones) Unfortunately, the material is just not up to being mounted and dismounted a lot, so use care and watch the torque when mounting it. It's one of those odd tools. Given the fragility of the material, and the fact the cheap materials means there has to be a HUGE markup, it is overpriced. However, it works very well if you don't break it. It's the kind of tool after using I'd consider paying 3 times the price to get one in laser etched anodized aluminum rather than plastic. I give it only 3 starts becuase made out of acrylic, it's essentially a consumable and WAY too pricey for that. See all 15 customer reviews...

Solutions I have a Porter Cable 690 with the three optional handles: plunge, fixed and D..... nothing works as well as this. Simply attaching it to the bottom of a board doesn't work. The 'precision' of twisting the 690, then locking it in does not compare in the slightest with making repeatable 1/125" adjustments! After making my first long cut, the lift seemed to shift upward, ruining my dado cut! I could not believe it! A few hours later of investigation, I realized it was not this lift, but the 1/4" bit was moving in the collet! If you own a router, and do any precision work, get this product! Seriously! I teetered back and forth for months, ruining many projects. I do recommend making your own table and fence however. It was easy, rewarding and likely a higher precision product at any price (mine cost $15 for a discarded office cubicle desk plank) The savings of making your own table will justify buying an air filter (like I did today) Thank you to Amazon for allowing us to write these reviews. It is only my 2nd one to write. Our family bases a large value on reviews and this product deserves my accolades. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Pretty Good Tool By Richard Quarles This is the first one of the lifts that I have bought. It is really easy to raise and lower, and I am pretty well satisfied with it. The only difficulty I have experienced is changing bits. With the router all the way raised, you have to angle the wrenches and it is rather cumbersome to get the bits on and off. I have thought of bending a wrench to accommodate that. The best thing is that it makes fine adjustments to bit height really easy. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Very Happy By Jennifer L. Mccampbell I have been woodworking for about 4 years now with a homemade router table. I have used my PC 690 in that old traditional table/plate, and I just recently upgraded to this lift. I now have a Millwaukee 2625 mounted in that lift and I couldn't be happier. The router fit into the lift with no modifications in about 3 minutes. The lift is very precise and very solid. Small adjustments are extremely accurate. I couldn't be happier with it so far. A huge advancement from my traditional router table that required me to raise/lower the bit from underneath. See all 11 customer reviews...

I prefer Porter Cable power tools, and agonized over this choice but three things tipped the scales for Rigid. 1) Value. You get (slightly) more capability and accessories for less money. 2) Price. Substantially cheaper than the comparable P-C combo model. 3) Warranty. Unmatched in the industry. Period. Sorry Amazon - got mine locally at the Big Box store for a lot less. Packing, fit, finish, accessories - all excellent. The base plate on the plunge accessory is sized to take P-C bushing guides. It is obvious a good deal of attention to detail was used in the design, e.g. functionality/placement of switches, work lights, lock levers, even a lighted power cord. If there was one thing I would improve (and finding this one thing was hard) I would say the comparable Porter Cable router combo has a "slightly" better designed dust collection system. Since I normally let the chips fly and have the teenage sons sweep the shop when I'm done, this shortcoming is insignificant to me. Outstanding tool. 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Great fit and finish, but it died By Frederic A. Wintersteen Great fit and finish, and controls, could use a little better dust collection. takes common bases, LED to illuminate work area, taller than one other brand, good feeling switch and speed control. The chuck has machine-tool quality collet! Reasonably quiet with soft start. Might be nice to have a saw type grip with trigger, but this is my first router You would have to use one to see. Bad news is that it died after after a few hours light use over 87 days, the good news is that I can return it and get another with a new warranty (90 days)at any HD store. Also has lifetime warranty for repair if you send in the UPC code, partno, and copy of receipt to register within 90 days. I'm getting another Ridgid as a replacement. Update: Home Depot has started carrying Ridgid's 2 hp "heavy Duty" as a replacement even though the 2 1/4 HP is still available from Ridgid. Although the 2 hp version has a shorter motor and center of gravity, it has lost its top quality collet in favor of a one-slot one similar to the palm router ones. I have tried two similar routers (Dewalt and Porter Cable) and none had the combination of quality, router table designed controls, smoothness and quietness of the R29302 Ridgid. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. This IS the ORIGINAL R2930 Combo Set (Disregard Others' Warnings) By Andrew J. Thomas I ordered from Amazon and on Jan 12th 2010 got the original R2930 router set with the 12amp 2 and 1/4 HP motor and the fixed and plunge bases. Amazon apparently has a back stock of these. If you're worried about what you're getting from them - call or email Amazon to find out if they have the real R2930 kit or have switched over to the R29302 like other stores have. If you have your heart set on the R2930 - get it while its hot! Please don't post reviews warning people about products you haven't bought! That doesn't do anyone any good. That being said - the warnings others have posted about the new router are valid - it is less powered (slightly) and has only the 1/2" collet with the 1/4" adapter rather than both collets. Other than that I would imagine it is the same quality product. See all 14 customer reviews...

Most helpful customer reviews 14 of 15 people found the following review helpful. The Rockler Shark CNC machine... By Shane The Rockler Shark made by Nextwave and sold by Rockler is the next great thing in home manufacturing. Given a pretty high sticker price it is very important for a machine like this to be capable of producing products not only in mass production but in high quality as well and this machine does not disappoint. After ordering or picking up at a local Rockler outlet the customer will receive two large packages, one containing the gantry and the other containing the deck. The gantry box will contain the complete and assembled gantry packed within shrink wrap and a lot of packing peanuts. The deck box will contain the fully assembled deck wrapped in sheets of foam. Included in one of the boxes will be a small white box containing the control box. This control box is the heart of the machine and includes the emergency shut off switch, the power cable, the control to motor cables, and a USB 2.0 cable. After removing the deck from the box and placing it on a level surface you will need to place the gantry over the deck and use the included bolts to fasten the gantry to the deck. After this is done plug the cables from the motors to the control box and plug the control box power supply into 110V outlet. After plugging the unit in you may hear a very slight electronic whine form the servo's, this is normal. Take the USB cable and plug it into your laptop or PC. Read the manual and follow the install instructions needed to install the control program from the website stated. After the unit is ready you will need to install the VCarve program and 3DCut programs, this is done by installing the provided CD's. With all programs installed and the unit ready you will need to create a file within VCarve or 3DCut and save the toolpaths as a file to transfer to the control program. Much can be learned from Rockler Shark CNC forums and I advise you watch the included tutorials and youtube video links(see included links in the comments section). This machine has been a great addition to my upstart business and has expanded my abilities. I in no way regret the purchase and have been successful enough in its use to have made enough money to pay it off in short time. The only problem I have with the unit is that it only comes with two material hold down clamps and Rockler's website does not provide much in the way of CNC bits. I have found many bits on EBay including 1/8 bits that require a new smaller collet that is not provided with the palm router which is sold separately from the machine. ALL FEEDBACK IS APPRECIATED. THANKS AND GOOD MACHINING. See all 1 customer reviews...

Its light weight makes it easy to use without fatigue. My unit was packaged with both 1/2 and 1/4 inch collets. 17 of 17 people found the following review helpful. Great Router, Great Service By John Eckels I needed a fixed base router for my Leigh Jig and was originally going to purchase the P.C 690. After some inquiring on a woodworking bulliten board, I decided not to purchase the P.C. The 690 was called the "Screaming Dinosaur". It was an outdated design, very noisy, and underpowered. Someone even commented that it torqued it's way out of a router table. Ouch.I picked up a refurbished Bosch 1617 at an auction and when it arrived it was damaged. Fortunately, Bosch was the seller and they rectified the situation by sending me a brand new non refurbished model. Great Service! The more I use this router, the more I like it. It is very powerful, and the depth adjustment is very precise, very easy to use and just cant be beat. The machine is relatively quiet (for a router)and the quality of construction is top notch. This router is so precise and consistent, I do not need to make test cuts for the dovetail pins on my Leigh Jig. I know where to set the jig, and the dovetails come out perfect every time! For general purpose use, I highly recommend spending the extra money on the variable speed model. When you run larger bits (which this machine can handle) you need a slower speed. Router speed controls cut you horsepower as well as your speed. The variable speed version of this router has electronic feedback which maintains you horsepower while reducing the speed. 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Bosch Router... Need more be said By Stephen Wargo This router is perfect. I was going to spend the extra for the 2HP version but I tested this one first. More than enough power. It comes with a 1/2" and 1/4" collet. Nice. and the handles feel great. I've cut rails and stiles and raised panels with it in a router table and it handled it like a champ. Bosch make the best fixed base router on the market, Hands Down. See all 8 customer reviews...
