Solutions I have a Porter Cable 690 with the three optional handles: plunge, fixed and D..... nothing works as well as this. Simply attaching it to the bottom of a board doesn't work. The 'precision' of twisting the 690, then locking it in does not compare in the slightest with making repeatable 1/125" adjustments! After making my first long cut, the lift seemed to shift upward, ruining my dado cut! I could not believe it! A few hours later of investigation, I realized it was not this lift, but the 1/4" bit was moving in the collet! If you own a router, and do any precision work, get this product! Seriously! I teetered back and forth for months, ruining many projects. I do recommend making your own table and fence however. It was easy, rewarding and likely a higher precision product at any price (mine cost $15 for a discarded office cubicle desk plank) The savings of making your own table will justify buying an air filter (like I did today) Thank you to Amazon for allowing us to write these reviews. It is only my 2nd one to write. Our family bases a large value on reviews and this product deserves my accolades. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Pretty Good Tool By Richard Quarles This is the first one of the lifts that I have bought. It is really easy to raise and lower, and I am pretty well satisfied with it. The only difficulty I have experienced is changing bits. With the router all the way raised, you have to angle the wrenches and it is rather cumbersome to get the bits on and off. I have thought of bending a wrench to accommodate that. The best thing is that it makes fine adjustments to bit height really easy. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Very Happy By Jennifer L. Mccampbell I have been woodworking for about 4 years now with a homemade router table. I have used my PC 690 in that old traditional table/plate, and I just recently upgraded to this lift. I now have a Millwaukee 2625 mounted in that lift and I couldn't be happier. The router fit into the lift with no modifications in about 3 minutes. The lift is very precise and very solid. Small adjustments are extremely accurate. I couldn't be happier with it so far. A huge advancement from my traditional router table that required me to raise/lower the bit from underneath. See all 11 customer reviews...
