Ritter Convenience at a Cost I purchased one of these bits hoping it would be a quick and accurate way to cut tongue and groove joints for mating ¾" plywood to ¾" solid lumber. After several adjustments and setup runs I was not able to achieve tight, accurate seams. The shims included do not offer enough range of adjustment to make snug joints. When looking at an assembled joint from the end a gap is present (the tongue is too narrow for the groove). This gap is especially noticeable if you try to rout any profile (such as a roundover or door lip edge) on the finished end. When using both cutters to create the tongue, the bit assembly is exactly ¾ inch wide. This means that if your stock is even a few thousands of an inch oversize you will leave a very thin strip of wood. It will usually break off but leaves behind a small raised edge that will have to be sanded or scraped off. After scrapping one dining table top, I am returning this bit and reverting back to my old method of setting up a dado head with featherboards. It is more time consuming but the only accurate way I have found to create tight tongue and groove joints. See all 1 customer reviews...

When my "to-do" list bubbled up a job that needed a bunch of drawers made I bought a drawer lock bit which requires running the sides vertically on my shaper so I had to build a high fence and for $30 bucks, this seemed like the way to go.. Should have made this one of my first purchases when I got the shaper...Even before bits!! Feels and works great. I haven't been using featherboards (real men don't use that stuff) and I am not sure why I still have all my appendages. Comes with two sets of expansion adapters to fit mitre slots in both the table saw and shaper and also everything needed to use with T-slots. Sets up in seconds and breaks down to two single featherboard so I can put one in the mitre slot and the other on the fence. Instructions are pretty good although it is pretty intuitive. I am impressed with the quality and price and am looking more closely at other Milescraft products. If this is an example of their quality I am sure I will be acquiring more from them. 12 of 13 people found the following review helpful. finally a feather board worth owning By A. Mandeville this is just a really kool product with a real nice fit feel and finish. It works fantastic with myBosch 4100-09 10-Inch Worksite Table Saw with Gravity-Rise Stand Most handy for those odd rips where you need the board on edge say for angles over 45deg. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. A pair for less than two! By Darius K. I just ordered two more sets. I have one set and could use some more, especially when I have the router table and table saw both set up. The best thing that a pair of these bought as a 1407 set cost less that two individual 1406 feather boards. Just toss the red spacer into the drawer if you don't need it. They are easy to adjust and stay put. Very good product. See all 24 customer reviews...

Broaddus In the past I have used my table saw tenoning jig to make shaker style cabinet doors, but I found that a really accurate set up was overly time consuming. I purchased the tongue and groove router bit set and found it to be a more accurate and quicker way to form these joints. With the large number of spacers provided, you can allow the perfect tolerance space for glue and the joints come out perfect. Use a variable speed router in a router table. 45 of 45 people found the following review helpful. Freud Did It Again By Bob Feeser At first I thought how could Freud have created an adjustable groove bit, with the seemingly single cutter, and make it adjustable. Then I discovered that it really was two cutters that were sandwiched together. Their carbide tip is a lot wider than the plates that hold them. Additionally they are offset, so when they are sandwiched without any spacers, they are just like having the one bit. With the included spacers, you can adjust that groove cutter to a nice range of sizes. Additionally the two large cutters that make up the tongue bit are adjustable with the spacers that are provided. They are stacked on the bit so you don't have to go looking for them when you want to make a change. I have a lot of Freud bits, and I have bought all of them from Amazon. The price and convenience can't be beat. The one complaint that I have is that Freud does not wrap these bits in a way that protects them from a UPS shipment. Do you know what UPS stands for? Unbelievably Pulverized Shipments. :-) With carbide tipped bits, which are super brittle, rolling around in the box, after they come loose from the snap together plastic carrying enclosure, they are left to do battle with one another. Consequently, check your faces for defects when you get them. Amazon has the greatest customer service. All in all a great set of bits, highly recommended. 15 of 15 people found the following review helpful. Exactly as advertised By James Casey I was recently asked to make tongue and groove flooring to match oak treads, risers, skirts, and cap on a stairway that I was building. The customer did not want comercially available flooring, and insisted on custom made flooring for 2 landings. After a short period of adjusting the router table, each board came out as close to perfect as I could hope for. A little sanding and perfection. All that I could ask for. As for shipping problems that others have encountered, mine arrived undamaged, but one of the pieces was loose inside the factory packaging. See all 66 customer reviews...

First I must say after reading 50 to 100 reviews I've determined that most people are brand diehards; you know a Chevy guy will almost always be a Chevy guy and a Ford guy will almost always stay a Ford guy. I started out thinking I would buy the Craftsman portable table saw with the built in router table, I checked out Makita, Bosch, Dewalt, Ryobi and a few others. However, after reading the reviews, checking out the jobsite saws in person and after watching the Ridgid 14648 demonstated on [...], I thought that was the saw I needed. Most of the reviews rated the Ridgid a notch better than the rest. I went to my local Home Depot and found that the Ridgid 14648 on display was not the model in the box so I went to all four HDs in my local area and none had a Ridgid 14648 in the box. So now what do I do? All the display models were missing pieces. Seems while I was searching others were buying. The R4510 had a different stand, tool storage and the blade guard. I also found that not all the boxed saws showed the blade guard and anti-kick back pawls nor listed them on the box. Well I found one HD that had one Ridgid R4510 left in stock, the week before they had two. Even the HD website said this model wasn't available and it had been two weeks before. Many websites listed this saw for about $695; a more popular price was $574 and one for $522. Home Depot had it for $499. I found that many people were listing this saw used for $499. I'm now glad I bought the Ridgid R4510. Pros 1. The gravity-rise stand is very good; super easy to fold and unfold. I have a Delta gas assisted stand for my miter saw and I thought it was great but the Ridgid is "first rate". The left side of the stand also will support plywood when ripping it. 2. The right side of the table expands to 25", just lift the lever, slide the table out and push the locking lever back down. 3. The rip fence and blade were aligned right out of the box and the rip fence slides very smoothly. 4. Setup time: 15 minutes to read the manual and 5 minutes to put the rip fence, miter gage, push stick, blade guard and anti-kickback pawls on the saw. Oh! And five minutes to unbox the saw. 5. The R4510 has a split blade guard for bevel cuts, spreader/riving knives, push stick, and anti-kickback pawls. 6. The onboard tool and cord storage work great. 7. Has built in chip/dust collection port good for a shop vac. 8. The large wheels work great for a bumpy area. 9. Heavy enough to stay in place while ripping. 10. Send in the registration and it has a lifetime service warranty to the original purchaser. Note: I saw a 43 of 43 people found the following review helpful. best out there By J Tria I have been searching for about two months now, looking for the perfect saw. I narrowed my choices, ever so slowly, to two. The Bosch and the Ridgid.R4510. I went to Home Depot and Lowes to look at each one, and went back to each two times. Luckily the stores were within two minutes of each other. I closed them, opened them, played with the adjustments, extended the table, tilted the blade, disassembled and reassembled the guards (I think they are identical) and moved the fence. for the record, i did own the Bosch and loved it but someone loved it more and took it to their house, from mine. So, i had to get a replacement. I hope they catch the little bastard!!!!!!! i regress. The first thing i noticed was the fence on the Ridgid was much smoother. The fence on my Bosch always chattered as it was moved. The new one did the exact thing, which i found frustrating. The Ridgid was smooth and didn't bind at all. The ridgid also seemed to have a more secure lock. Oh, yeah, it also had a micro-adjustment which i thought was a good touch. Tilting the blade on the Ridgid was easy and smooth, you just pushed in the crank that raises the

Kreg KMS7102 Table Saw Precision Miter Gauge System

Cut perfect miters consistently with Kregs Precision Miter Gauge System. A number of unique features makes this one of the most precise miter gauges on the market today. Factory calibrated accuracy starts with a gauge head that is machined on a computerized milling machine for absolute precision.

Amazon Sales Rank: #18176 in Home Improvement Brand: Kreg Model: KMS7102 Dimensions: 6.25" h x 2.63" w x 25.25" l, .0 pounds Factory Calibration. Guaranteed out of the box to .003 accuracy of 6-inches Gauge head is CNC machine perfectly square to the bar and table ( no stampings) Vernier scale allows fast, 1/10th-degree angle adjustments Microadjuster allows additional angle adjustment to 1/100th degree Postive stops at 0, 10, 22-1/2, 30 and 45-degrees; limited lifetime warranty

Amazon.com We’ve found that even on high-end saws, the miter gauge is sometimes not the best it could be – a situation easily resolved by the folks at Kreg. You probably know them for their ingenious pocket hole system, but this miter gauge is worthy of fame in its own right. It’s not like any we’ve seen before, with a handful of features that work together to give you the ability to set an angle cut accurately to 1/10th of a degree – and beyond that, to adjust to 1/100th of a degree (hats off to you if you’re that precise!) Setup takes a little bit of time and patience, but the results are well worth it. It’s got a super accurate length scale with a magnifying lens cursor, similar to those on good table saws, and the curved flip stop can be used with the fence as is, or you and a pair of pliers can modify it easily for permanent use with a sacrificial fence. This clever curved design lets you slide your stock right under it. The slot bar has five patented nylon screws along its length that let you custom fit it to your table saw slot, completely eliminating any play. It’s got the positive stops you expect, at 0, 22.5, 30 and 45 degrees, and they’re marked by preset holes that accept a tapered brass pin, which locks in the angle with absolute precision. The gauge is marked with diamonds every five degrees for great legibility, too. But what sets this gauge apart from the pack is its Vernier scale, allowing you to set any angle in tenth-of-a-degree increments. Unless you have a degree in mathematics, don’t try to understand the process – it’s confusing and non-intuitive. Instead, just follow the step-by-step directions, and you’ll get absolute accuracy every time. And when Kreg calls something a "micro-adjustment" mechanism, they really mean micro. With this miter gauge, you can actually increase your angle by 1/100th of a degree by turning a nylon screw that increases the space between the fence and the gauge. For each .001 inch you put between the fence and gauge, you increase your angle by 1/100th of a degree. Kreg’s really hit the accuracy bullseye with this miter gauge, and adding it to even a so-so saw will give you fantastic results. Take your time with setup and follow the directions for the Vernier scale, and you’ll be as taken with it as we are. -- Kris Jensen-Van Heste Cut perfect miters consistently with our Precision Miter Gauge System. A number of unique features make this the most accurate miter gauge on the market today. Precision starts with the gauge head that is machined on a computerized milling machine for absolute accuracy. An easy-to-read Vernier scale enables quick adjustment up to 1/10th of a degree to assure the perfect miter. Includes Precision Miter Gauge, 24-inch section of Heavy Duty Trak, Standard Flipstop and a self adhesive measuring tape.

By John Henry Newman In looking for an upgrade to my factory miter gauge, I considered the Kreg, Incra, and the JDS. Based on reviews here at Amazon, I eliminated the JDS gauge, and I was wary about the Incra (several models) because of the mixed reviews. Although no reviews existed here on Amazon, I found a nice online revew at "Online Tool Reviews" (dot com) Because I have been very impressed with the level of Kreg engineering on their pocket hole systems, I gave the Kreg gauge a shot. I short, the gauge is easy to set up, easy to use, and is accurate. The nylon screws make fitting the gauge to your miter slot a breeze. My dial caliper indicates that the Kreg gauge is about 1/128" off, after just a couple of minutes of fine tuning. I tested the miter scale with my Bosch Digital Protractor (reads to the 0.1 degree) and the Kreg scale is dead on. Kreg even provides a method to adjust the angle to 0.01 degree, but I doubt I will need to do that! You can refer to the aforementioned review for details on setup tips, so I will only add a couple of my own tips below: Think about how far away you want the miter gauge fence to be from your blade BEFORE you cut the self-adhesive tape. Make sure your gauge will clear your blade guard! I wished that I would have cut my tape at about 1.5" rather than the 1" called for in the manual. Also, when following the tape cutting procedure in the online review, be careful not to pull the adhesive off the tape! My adhesive stuck to the paper and I had to carefully re-stick it. Lastly, be aware that because of the weight of the fence, your gauge will twist whenever the fence isn't resting on the table surface (when you back the gauge off the table). The flip stop is really a nice feature; easy to square up a board without messing with the stop. Another nice feature is the hairline cursor that is attached to the stop, so you don't have to sight down the edge of the stop to get a reading (like you do for the Incra gauge). Overall, I am very pleased with this gauge, I'm glad I bought it, and my confidence keeps growing in the quality engineering of Kreg products. 33 of 33 people found the following review helpful. Very Nice for Furniture Making By D. Meermans The ease of set up and repeatability using the FlipStop make cutting and tenoning furniture parts a breeze. I use a two-foot steel rule when setting up and the accuracy is great. I do not use the stick-on rule because I followed the manual instructions and cut it too short. In any event, if you adjust the rail to accommodate an angle setting, you need to carefully reset its position so the tape is correct-too much trouble considering the steel rule provides a direct blade-to-stop measurement. Definitely get the FlipStop if you need to make same-length parts. It is a GREAT feature. The only objection I have is the little plastic buttons that prevent the rail from rubbing on the table are very easy to knock off and very hard to find on the floor. I cut a strip from a plastic cutting board to replace them. No more problem. 20 of 20 people found the following review helpful. Good tool By W. Eppick This is an excellent tool. My main happiness is that it is easy to set it up to be used in the right hand slot on the table. It is dead accurate -- I didn't have to tweak anything to make absolutely square cuts. HOWEVER -- I'd be a lot happier if the main slide bar was steel instead of aluminum. The aluminum bar flexes a lot. The plastic adjusters have to be adjusted EXACTLY right or the bar will flex, changing the cutoff angle - slightly. I'm a shipwright and a sometimes cabinet maker, running my own shop. If the slide bar were changed to steel, the tool would be perfect. (Yes, I'd be overjoyed to pay another $10 for a steel bar.) See all 14 customer reviews...

Weant The insert plate would not seat deep enough in the table to allow the plate to be flush with the top of the table. Leveling screws could not be lowered enough. Carried the table top to the nearest Freud Service Center and had table top replaced. Could not replace the insert plate since it was drilled for a different router than Freud. Still did not level exactly. Was able to slightly counter sink the top of the screw inserts and was able to completely level the insert plate. The personnel at the service center were very friendly and helpful. A comment for manufacturing is that the area routed out for the insert plate should be set a little deeper to allow more adjustment for the screws. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Hardware and what they don't tell you. By Innkeeper 06 The hardware that was shipped was not what was called for in the instructions. The instructions call for carriage bolts and lock washers. A less than satisfactory replacement hardware was substituted. The Instructions appeared to be interpreted from another language and was difficult to follow, I have a masters degree and it was difficult for me. The cd that accompanied the product was crushed and the Seller is reluctant to replace. The aluminum insert is not predrilled to accept anything except a Freud router, So if I was to buy this again I would go ahead and buy the Freud router to go along with it. Overall I am happy with it but these few little pitfalls are annoying when you think you are buying top end equipment. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Freud Router Table By Clayton T. Whisman All-in-all this is a pretty good router table for the money. I did not experience the plate leveling problem another reviewer talked about. Mine was about 1/4" below the table surface before I raised it with the leveling screws. I did however run into an issue with the substandard hardware included to assemble the table. A lot of the nuts had burs in their threads making them difficult to start at times. Virtually all of the nuts had the thread hole drilled off center, not that this hurt anything, but just shows how cheaply made they are. It would have been nice if the table top had been pre-drilled for attachment to the stand, but it wasn't, so you will have to spend some time centering the stand to the top and marking the hole locations. The stand does not come with any remote power switch for your router so you will need to purchase one or reach under the table everytime you need to turn the router on or off (or plug and unplug the router cord from the wall). On the plus side the stand is sturdy once assembled and has a nice powder-coat finish. I absolutley love the micro-adjust fence (although they could have made the fence a bit higher and longer, but it is easy to make your own fence and attach it to the micro-adjust hardware). Most helpful customer reviews 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. A must accessory for the router By Dr. D This guide is easy to adjust and comes in handy. The bearing does not spin super fast and mar the workpiece like a bearing guided router bit can. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. good for precision, but range is limited By F. Vorreiter The roller guide works fine for adjustment, actually better than a very similar one i used on a Makita palm router. It is easy to make very fine adjustments without the guesswork, and the grips permit easy and tight fastening of the guide. The only thing to keep in mind is that the wheel itself is fairly big - you will need a larger router bit to cut more than 1mm. I have a 16mm router bit and my routing limit with this guide is around 5mm. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. BOSH roller guide By Leroy D. Brack Not bad product. Most helpful customer reviews 246 of 250 people found the following review helpful. An excellent accessory By L. F. Smith This is an excellent accessory for the already-versatile rotary tool. The trick to its use is to recognize the inherent limitation of all rotary tools. They are high-speed, low-torque tools. The work is done in the same way that a dentist's drill works: Very light pressure lets the bit in effect shave away the material. As the manual says, you need to adjust the tool so the bit is very close to the workpiece, then slowly lower the bit into it. This means you can't use the Dremel drill press the same way you would use a full-size drill press, where you can bear down on the lever and force the bit to dig into the work. If you try to use it that way, you'll get the "slop" that some other reviewers mention. When it's used correctly-- and the manual makes it very clear how to do so-- this is a very good accessory to have. 89 of 92 people found the following review helpful. Another Good Dremel accessory By R. Reeves This press is great for all those little odd jobs. As a hobbyist, I use this item often. The slop others mentioned in other reviews can easily be removed by adjusting the 4 set screws to snug things up and tightening the other nuts and bolts in the assembly. Any press will flex if its forced beyond its intended limits. When used as intended. This press does everything it claims and more. The fact it can be adjusted to work as a bench grinder only adds to it value. When combined with a cross-slide mini vise. It will also work as a mini bridgeport for light machining. I would have given it a 5 star rating. But because I had to take the whole thing apart and reassemble it the way it should have been done at the factory. I gave it a 4. All in all, its still a great addition for anyone that owns a Dremel. 74 of 77 people found the following review helpful. One of the better "work stations" I've seen. By J. Reichard Dremels' work station for their rotary tool is a great little station. You are able to bolt it onto your workbench if you prefer. Some folks don't think you need to but I like to work with different jigs and such and need a very stable base, so I bolt mine. And along that line of thinking is the fact that you can tilt the tool anywhere from 15° to 90° which will help you when you want to turn it into a sanding and polishing tool for more intricate work. It has a great little tool "caddy" which they like to call the "Crows nest" that you can store some of your more favorite bits. Or the way I use it is to place the bits and collets I'm going to use for whatever project that I'm working on at the time because I put all my bits and things up when done and cover the station to prevent dust build up. The telescoping tool stand holds the tool when you are using the FlexShaft(tm). The base of the station has both metric and standard symbols as does the depth gauge. All in all it's a great station for the rotary tool. But, the one little drawback that I've found in my working with it is that with other stations like this one, the others usually have a strap to clamp the upper portion of the tool securely to the tool stand. I find this helpful when drilling fine holes into decorative stones that I tumble and polish. Without that strap, using the the fine diamond drill bits will sometimes try to "travel" across the stone which will cause scratch marks. But, the great feel that the handle gives you allows me to prevent that by very delicately bringing the bit down to the stone in minute strokes until the bit has the hole started and then it's drilling as usual when using a fine diamond drill bit. That's why I give this station a 4 out of 5. Really I'd like to give it a 4½ stars but that's not one of the choices! Also the great deal I got buying this tool through Amazon.com beats all other sites and stores. So guys, show the wife the tool, what can be done with it and the low price, and

Most helpful customer reviews 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. router plate By t zup Plate is made well as far as materials go. The problem lies in the lack of instructions and installation guides. I contacted bench dog & they said they are working on this issue. I had to custom make jack bolts to align this to a workable height. Took 2-1/2 hours to set. Although they show my router fitting this plate, I had to drill my own hole for the t handle height adjustment. They also said they are working on this misinformation as well. (You must also buy the center section seperate). The write up is also not too clear on this and I found out after. If you are handy & capable of customizing, then buy this. If not, stay away from this. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Poor quality By R. Mikesell I bought the first one and tried to mount it on the bench. I could get the corners flush, but the center was high (there was a bow in it). I sent it back and ordered a new one. Same thing. I may just go to a metal shop and have one made. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. well built plate By Edward Well built metal plate. Solid, with holes for specific routers. DEWALT DW618PK 12 AMP 2-1/4 HP Plunge- and Fixed-Base Variable-Speed Router Kit with 1/4-Inch and 1/2-Inch Collets

Featuring a 12.0 Amp motor that delivers variable speed performance from 8,000 to 24,000 RPM, the DeWalt DW618PK 2-1/4 HP Router with a fixed base and a plunge base offers all the power and versatility that professionals demand. Soft start provides an extra-smooth finish and helps ensure that this tool even performs well when working with the toughest hardwoods. With a micro-fine depth adjus ent ring, you can count on accurate adjus ent in 1/64-inch increments, while a clear, Lexan sub-base ensures durability and visibility. The included sub-base concentricity gauge enhances accuracy even further by helping you maintain bit concentricity, and long, eight-slot collets that are self-releasing provide excellent bit retention for dependability. A steel motor cam lock and quick-release motor latches make adjus ents and base changes tool-free, fast and easy when you need to switch tasks, and a unique, detachable cordset helps keep this tool easy to service.

The router's electronic variable-speed trigger lets you select from between 8,000 and 24,000 rpm for specific applications. And because this system employs full electronic feedback, you can trust the router to provide constant speed under load. In addition, the motor's soft start reduces start-up torque for optimum control. The router's fixed base features a micro-fine depth-adjustment ring that provides precise bit adjustments in 1/64-inch increments. Because the ring--not the motor can--turns to adjust bit depth, a constant switch/cordset location is maintained when you are using the router in a table. This minimizes difficulty in turning the unit on and off and keeps operation consistent. The plunge base features an adjustable five-position turret stop for use when making repeated plunge cuts. The easy-to-reach plunge-release lever and switch keep control at your fingertips during routing.Quick, Secure Base and Bit ChangesThe clear, LEXAN sub-base offers optimum bit visibility and base durability, and it accepts standard template-guide bushings to make application-specific setups easy. Also, a sub-base concentricity gauge is included. If you insert this into the collet prior to bit installation, it will help you center the sub-base relative to bit location when making your cut line off of the side of the base. Moreover, the sub-base and other included bases are designed to make both base and bit changes easy. Quick-release motor latches allow for fast and easy motor-pack removal, while a spindle-lock button allows for single-wrench bit changes. The fixed base also offers a flat top, so the router can be set upside down for easy bit and depth changes. Additionally, long, self-releasing, eight-slotted collets provide improved bit retention and prevent bits from jamming.Built for Consistency and DurabilityRouting applications produce a lot of dust, which can result in extra wear and tear on electronic parts. That's why this system features a dust-sealed switch that protects against dust ingestion for longer tool life. Other components that contribute to the tool's overall consistency and durability include heavy-duty metal housings, precision-machined brass bushings, and case-hardened steel guide rods on the plunge base.Comfortable Operation with Integrated Dust ControlEach base features comfortable rubber over-molded handles and a low center of gravity for improved balance and control and reduced user fatigue. The base also has a patented through-the-column dust-collection system. This allows a vacuum to be attached to the router without blocking your line of sight. In addition, this router kit offers you the ability to work with the switch and cordset on either your left or right side. Also contributing to this setup's usability is a detachable cordset that can be easily serviced. A shorty cord motor pack is not required if you opt to place the motor can in a D-Handle base. The DW618PK DEWALT 2-1/4-Inch EVS Fixed Base/ Plunge Base Router Combo Kit with Soft Start is backed by a three-year limited warranty. What's in the BoxDW618M motor pack, DW6184 fixed base, DW6182 plunge base, 1/4-inch and 1/2-inch collets, wrench, sub-base concentricity gauge, large-hole sub-base, vacuum adapter, and kit box.Everything stays safe and secure in the durable kit box. Most helpful customer reviews 198 of 200 people found the following review helpful. Hands Down - Best of Breed Router Kit By Scott Fairchild I invested a lot of time when deciding which router kit I wanted and finally chose the DeWalt model. I chose from a short list of the top-selling kits below, all of which I actually used in a real test environment:* Makita RF1101KIT (w/free edge guide and dust collection)* Porter-Cable 693VSPK (w/free edge guide, no dust collection)* Bosch 1617EVSP* DeWalt DW618PK edge guideWhen all is said and done, All are very well-built machines by reliable manufacturers. I did not choose the Porter Cable because of the tool-required change from base to base as well as the lower power and lack of soft-start. The Bosch lost because of the flimsy edge guide they offer (currently free) and the tendency for dust to really collect near the bit and block your view.I It came down to the Makita and the Dewalt, and both performed VERY well, and had everything I asked for (micro adjustment, easy motor change, soft start, 225HP, easy-plunge control etc.) At first, the Makita had the "edge" :) because it came with the free edge guide, and the DeWalt cost ($) more. However, I finally decided on the DeWalt because the dust collection was truly integrated with the unit (the Makita's was a separate, but included, plate you attached), and that's what pushed it over the edge. The only other real difference was the DeWalt has a removeable power cord, which wasn't a deal-maker, but is nice.Other than the slight heaviness (The Bosch was the lightest), I am completely pleased with my purchase as it works just awesome. When all is said and done, the DeWalt was the most expensive, because you have to buy the edge guide separately, but besides that, the DeWalt is the winner. 76 of 77 people found the following review helpful. What a trade up! Great value for an excellent router By Michael This is a great deal. I have wanted to trade up from my Craftsman router for a while. I was considering purchasing the DW621, but when I saw this combo kit was coming out I decided to wait to get this kit.Having waited for a few months to get this new tool, I played quite a bit this weekend. I just purchased a new house and I wanted to make some moldings. So this weekend on worked on a 3 piece chair rail for the dining room. I had no problem mouting the router on a Rousseau plate and mounting it in my homemade router table (without the plunge base attached). I had never done moldings before and I was very pleased with the results. This router has ample power and control. I had to make multiple passes but the feed rate while slow was acceptable, and I never felt like the work was out of control. (Also, the finished product was a lot cleaner than with my previous router - but the I was also using significantly more expensive router bits) The plunge base was similarly easy to use, though I only made a few sample cuts. I have no complaints with the plunge mechanism. The soft start is also a great feature.I am very pleased with my purchase. For an extra (Money) (over the DW621), I got both a fixed base and a plunge router. I know serious woodworkers have multiple routers, but I don't have the budget for that. I had wanted a fixed base since I mostly use the router in the table. However, I also wanted at least a 2 HP router in order to do molding (though I wouldn't recommend using this for great quantities of molding). This router kit gave me the best of both worlds. Given the small cost for two bases and the 2 1/4 HP, this is a great deal for those of you who can also get by with a single router. Now, I can also have a plunge router when I need it. 52 of 52 people found the following review helpful ITS WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY!!!! By Justin Dennis After having this router for about two months now I have been able to completely shop-test it. I recommend this router system to anyone who is looking for a router. Huesman First, don't be fooled by the description "fence with independent sliding faces for use as a vertical jointer". This table DOES NOT have a split fence. The jointer adjustment is made by loosening the bolts that hold the face plate to the one-piece fence and inserting spacers behind the outfeed. Adjustments of 1/16" and 1/32" can be made this way; that should be sufficient. The table seems very sturdy and strongly constructed. I am a huge fan of the leveling system, a total of 12 bolts give countering up and down pressure on the insert plate keeping a nice level and true surface. The 3/8" plate is more than strong enough to hold my Craftsman 2-HP router...I can press down firmly with my hand and feel no deflection in the center. The drawback to the plate is that the hole is a bit small. I'd rather have a larger hole and inserts (even pop-in inserts) because I do a lot of panel routing This is a very nice router table, but since there are tables out there with better fence systems and insert plates that work better, I think this table is a bit pricey for the features. 18 of 18 people found the following review helpful. Kreg PRS2000 Review By D Mack The Kreg PRS2000 Router table does not offer a tremendous value for the money. The fence is difficult to move and takes time to set it accurately. There are much cheaper ones on the market that offer similar value. However, this bench top model is sturdy and easy to move when needed. Attaching the router was fairly simple with the included template. There are many tips online about making your own router table, which is what I would have done in retrospect. 22 of 23 people found the following review helpful. Good Overall By J. Sova PROS: Solid base and tabletop. Fence is ridged as it should be. Inserts for jointer work well Dust port is good. CONS: phenolic insert plate is NOT flat. It's difficult to get it to a usable surface. Which leads to issue #2 The corner plastic pieces used to hold insert and Level plate have threaded inserts in plastic. Half of them pullout of plastic when tightening down the plate. I used gorilla glue to hold them in place and so far it's working. Overall it's a good router table for 229. If I have enough projects down the road, it may justify the 500 dollar model from Kreg. See all 5 customer reviews....

Dremel 335-01 Plunge Router Attachment

Anyone who's ever used a router understands the satisfaction that a cleanly cut rabbet or mortise can give. But if you're working on small-scale projects, such as jewelry boxes or models, that monster three-horsepower fixed-base router with the 1/2-inch bit is simply overkill. That's where the Dremel 335 comes in. This plunge-router adapter is meant to be used with the Dremel rotary tools (models 400, 398, 395, 300, 285, and 275), which accommodate 1/8-inch diameter bits. If you already own one of these tools, buying the attachment is a great way to get an instant router without having to shell out the extra forty or fifty bucks for a single-purpose machine (that may be too big for what you're doing anyway). Assembling the attachment is simple: just remove the housing cap from your Dremel, reassemble the collet nut, then place the tool into the router attachment. The tool is secured in the attachment with a mounting nut and wrench (both included). The attachment features two plunge depths, which are locked in via a rotary hand grip. Setting routing depth can be a little tricky: it's a good idea to practice on scrap until you get a feel for it. The clear base gives you good stability and lets you see exactly what you're doing, as does the narrow profile of the Dremel tool itself. The attachment also includes an adjustable edge guide that works very well. If you're working on small projects are willing to experiment with the settings, this is the router for you.

By Bad Habit Dremel has really upgraded with this new plunge router attachment for the rotary tool. It fits all the usual corded tools and even the new Li-Ion cordless!Great new features like: Plunge capability, clear base, bigger base, rotary tool mounting is very sturdy and rigid, depth stop, big edge guide that goes all the way to the bit.The locking handle takes a little getting used to. Because it locks with one handle and plasic was used for the base there is a little flex back after locking. Plastic for the base to be clear is a benefit, but the plastic for the top plate was probably to save cost so they could price it closer to what the old router was. Anyway, when I really want to be accurate with my depth, I make sure to measure the distance from the bottom of the base to the bit with a metal scale. That way I know the depth is what I want. If it was all metal I'd give it a 5, but then the cost would probably keep me from buying it It's great for the small router jobs I do(signs, door striker plate installation etc.) and I would recommend it! 50 of 50 people found the following review helpful. A little bit of metal wouldn't hurt? By Timothy T. Fine tool for "small delicate projects" mainly because the wing nuts used to tighten the guide bar (for straight and circular routing) are made of plastic with a metal screw. It is impossible to tighten them enough to keep the tool working straight. On a solid wood project the tool jumped around because of the way it loosely sits in the plastic base. Because of the vibration the screws that are meant to retain the depth of cut unscrew them selves, changing your settings unless you really lock them in place. Yes; for small delicate projects, but be ready for a lot of troubleshooting and make sure you practice on some scrap so you totally know what you are getting yourself into :) 39 of 42 people found the following review helpful A desirable capability By D. Welter Making a plunge cut is chancy without a base of this nature. A Dremel tool is a petite router great for delecate operations. The base on this attachment is as large as one used in 1/4hp routers, negating an asset. The attachment points of the router to the base are close together near the bottom end of the router. It is easy to wiggle the tool even when screws are firmly tightened. This is a useful concept; it can do what it is supposed to do, but is less than ideal. See all 36 customer reviews....

Rowell The first thing that I noticed about this router is how solid it is. The motor is surprisingly hefty for its size. I love the ease at which I can switch from the fixed base to the plunge base. The soft start is smooth and yet powerful. One of the things that made me decide on this Hitachi was the fact that I was constantly seeing it being used in the background of woodworking magazine article photos as well as on the covers and in advertisements for different products related to routers. The base locks are a breeze to use, they hold tight and are easily adjustable. I would have been satistied had I paid even more for it regardless of the free palm sander which is also a fine piece of equipment. It is true that it takes two wrenches to loosen the Collette but that is a give and take situation. Locking colletes are convenient but all that extra engineering in the motor housing just isn't necessary and I feel that it would tend to detract from the solid feel and quality of the motor The router maintains it's RPM under a considerable load. I love this machine and would highly recommend it! 74 of 78 people found the following review helpful. Dare I say it? Yes, I dare: Better Than Porter Cable By D. R. Locker I played around with a bunch of routers and router combo packs before settling on this one. I played with the Bosch, Porter Cable, Dewalt, Milwalkee, and Makita, but none of them felt so solid in my hand or ergonically precise as the Hitachi. Getting it out and using it (a lot already) has only confirmed my decision. This is my first router to own, but I have used and fidgeted with a number of them. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I really like the smooth feel of the locks on these, and the precision with which you can set them. The depth stop on the plunge base has a great design and the spring is firm enough to force you to make a smooth entry, rather than the motor 'falling' into the workpiece The motor is a work of art. It is so smooth and quiet compared to many routers. As sound is a product of vibration, I tend to think that a router that is quiet and powerful at the same time is going to be more precise and smooth than a loud and powerful one. It's true that you have to use 2 wrenches to loosen the collet, but I feel more confident in its durability than a locking collet (as noted by another reviewer). I really think this the best 2 1/4 HP router combo on the market. Yes, even better than the old vanguards like Porter Cable and Bosch. It doesn't hurt that it is also a bit cheaper than most. Now if Hitachi would make a D-handle and include the edge guide in the package, then it truly would be the perfect router. But even without those, I still highly recommend this router, whether you buy it with the combo or just the fixed base 46 of 48 people found the following review helpful. Not so hot By Crusty Woodworker Hitachi KM12VC Router plunge and fixed base. I purchased this router kit with high hopes. When I received the package i was very pleased with all of the accessories that were supplied, especially the set of guide bushings. Initially I was impressed with the power of the motor, and with how quiet it was even under load. I am still impressed by these features, even though things go downhill from there. Plunge base. The plunge base was so stiff out of the box that I had to work on it for hours to get it to work properly. I finally got it to what would be called "acceptable" but I ruined a couple of chair leg mortises before I worked out the bugs. This was with a jig I have used for years with zero issues. Collets. I have had several issues with both the 1/4 and 1/2 inch collets supplied. While routing a deep mortise with the above mentioned jig (1/2 inch carbide spiral bit) the bit came loose and spoiled the workpiece This after I tightened it to what should have been an.
