Amazon.com A benchtop router offers significant advantages over a handheld machine. It's safer, because you're moving the wood over the bit instead of the other way around. It's also versatile, allowing you to do a number of cuts that aren't possible with a handheld. And because it has a fence, it gives you a degree of control and precision that is simply impossible with freehand routing. Because you're sliding the wood across the surface of a bench router, it's important that the surface be as frictionless as possible. The RA1181 features a generous 27-inch long by 18-inch wide table that's made out of slick but durable cast aluminum. In addition, he surface near the fence is rough-ground to minimize surface contact, which further reduces friction. Though the caveat "some assembly required" applies here, the manual is clearly written, and I found the setup process to be straightforward. Once fully assembled, the RA1181 attaches to just about any workbench via the leg assemblies, which have flat "feet" that you can clamp to the table. You can also use the pre-drilled holes to screw it to your work surface if you don't need it to be portable. (Note that most benchtop routers need to be mounted on a smaller table-using a standard worktable may leave it uncomfortably high.) Once secured to the table, the RA1181 is very stable, and can handle high-horsepower routers and larger work pieces without bucking. The cast aluminum mounting plate accepts a variety of routers-and not just those made by Bosch. The fence is good and rigid, and is adjustable from 0 to 3-3/4-inches wide. This is a great little machine, and its portability and capacity for bigger jobs makes it as good a fit on the job site as it is in the home workshop.--Josh Dettweiler

I was with my lameness tablesaw router insert. That was achieved largely on the Bosch 1617 Plunge / Fixed combo, while a back. I thought this would be a good pair, using the fixed mounting on the table, set on the table and fall based on the use of hand. The table is cast aluminum and has a square that was capable of measuring. The mounting plate is an aluminum foundry router is also strong. You should not stop hanging on a router mounted as seen in some other dishes. There are adjustment screws for each corner and the edge of each (a total of 8). This allows you to mount the plate perfectly aligned with the table surface. The fence is a piece of extruded aluminum with adjustable MDF faces. It was square and true. Also included are two 1 / 16 "sheet of plastic to slip behind the MDF for the use of the jointer table as this is a good idea for someone to start, but I prefer a real jointer. Food Switch is a bit 'weird. This is a plastic lever to activate a toggle switch. If you press the lever at all, will close the switch. This should work fine, but I see an opportunity to break the plastic lever. This would not prevent the switch to operate, would be only more difficult to extinguish. featherboards The included will be used and are quite well designed. The storage area in the leg is a great idea, but it is impossible to do everything, not in domestic consumption. I'll probably mount on top of this a cabinet with drawers in rotation. I could see it maybe keep the aluminum legs and replacing the plastic with a wardrobe. The high is expected to last for a long time. Overall, I think I'll be happy with this purchase. I think the normal price is decent, and I would consider a contract with a total of 30% deals that were used when I bought it I have the Bosch website to check and make sure your wireless router in this table. There is mention in the instructions on the opening holes for adjustments over the office of Porter Cable and some other routers. However, mounting holes provided on many routers. If your router is not listed, you need to drill holes for a precise fit. If you are not perfectly centered, some operations on the table very hard to do (such as the routing model and a cover.) Although this need not aluminum top for the protection, unlike iron, is a good idea. In my BT3100 table saw, aluminum can be gray stripes, if not wax. Just something to think about. 133 of 136 people found the following review helpful. My first was a high point add half an inch to the left side of the table. I returned it and have the other also. I called Bosch and after some time it turns out that they had some mistakes in production. Bosch service was very good. I like the design of the table. Hopefully it will go well, but I had to spend 3 or 4 hours on a table that works. PS Look at the bottom of table 3-digit red my table was 787 lots. See all 52 reviews ....
